A Message From A Chick
On the Wide Open Spaces CD insert, there is an AOL
email address for the Chicks, which they no longer use. Emily used that address to post on the AOL Dixie Chicks
message board. This is the one message I have been able to access. In a follow-up post, Emily apologized for her poor spelling
and grammar.

Hey everybody, (screennames deleted for privacy)
This is Emily with the Dixie Chicks and I just have to say how honored we are to be one of the bands on MMC. Our best
advertisement is our fans and when you spread the word it helps us a lot!
I wanted to answer (and ask) a few questions:
1) Since Natalie Maines (yes, she is the daughter of the famous Lloyd Maines of Lubbock) joined the band about a year
and a half ago, we have been in negotiations with Sony Records and we are finally/currently working on out 4th album which
will be released on the Columbia Label which is a division of Sony. There's no release date sheduled yet, but we hope to have
a single out sometime this Summer. Thanks for your patience! ......By the way, this will be our first major label project!
2)Are all/any of you on our mailing list? If not, email your mailing address to us at: DixieChks @ aol.com and we'll
be sure to get you on.
3)I have just updated our schedule on our web page, so check it out....but I must mention things
are added to and changd on our schedule constantly, so the best way to get info is our Hotline: (xxx) xxx-xxxx
4)
To those wo were requesting us to play in the Midwest...we would LOVE to get back there, it's just a matter of finding the
right venue and being able to route around it. Give us your suggestions and we'll look into it.
Well, I better go...take
care and spread the word about us!
