Gold and Platinum awards are awarded for certified
sales from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Only sales and streams occurring in the United States qualify
for RIAA awards. The Chicks have received 64 Gold and Platinum certifications.
The RIAA recognizes the following Album Award tiers:
• Gold – 500,000 Units
• Platinum – 1,000,000 Units
• Multi-Platinum – 2,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter)
• Diamond – 10,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter)
Units are defined
as follows:
• Each permanent digital album or physical album sale count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
• 10 permanent track downloads from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
• 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
The RIAA recognizes
the following Digital Single Award tiers:
• Gold – 500,000 Units
• Platinum – 1,000,000 Units
• Multi-Platinum – 2,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter)
• Diamond – 10,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter)
Units are defined
as follows:
• Each permanent digital download counts as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
• 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams will count as 1 Unit for certification purposes.
The
RIAA recognizes the following Longform Music Video tiers:
• Gold – 50,000 Units
• Platinum – 100,000 Units
• Multi-Platinum – 200,000 Units (increments of 100,000 thereafter)
Units are defined as follows:
• A title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution
• 1 unit = 1 physical sale and excludes streaming and digital sales
