About Me

Multi Platinum CD Award

If you're on this page, you've stumbled across it accidently because it is a hidden page on my website. Nothing is for sale.

I started collecting Dixie Chicks memorabilia in July 2000 with the purchase of the CD 'Shouldn't A Told You That' and it has since grown into a hobby. I have bought items on ebay, a few through charity auctions, and received some items from friends as well as through a Chicks trading group. Pictured above is my favorite item in the collection. It is a multi-platinum CD award from the Recording Industry Association of  America for Wide Open Spaces. The plaque reads as follows:

Presented to
Dixie Chicks
to commemorate RIAA certified
multi-platinum sales of more than
10,000,000 copies of the
Monument Records
cassette and C.D.

*An acetate is a transitional stage between the master tape and the finished cd. The acetate is used to assess whether the music has been successfully transferred to disc. It is checked by the sound engineer. There may be only one copy made of a particular recording, sometimes more are cut and sent to the studio and band members for approval. It is unusual for more than a dozen to be manufactured, so from the collector's point of view an acetate is a rare find indeed! If the recording is rejected the acetate may be the only record that survives. The rejected cut may simply be poor quality, however the artist may have opted to use a different take of the song, if so, the acetate becomes much more precious.

This box set compiles a host of early Chicks live TV appearances (pre-Natalie), the out-of-print Home on the Radar Range songs, Natalie's earliest recordings, and a host of solo sessions and songs that never made it to any of their major-label releases. It also includes interviews, TV appearances, and concerts from a June 1999 promotional tour of England and May 1996 of Japan as well as sessions the Chicks have appeared on as backup singers and writers for other artist's albums. The time span on these recordings is 1991-2002.
